ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for an ambitious, enthusiastic Senior Consultant (Senior Account Manager equivalent) to join our dynamic and fast-growing Healthcare Communications team.
The Senior Consultant will advise Hanover’s existing clients on the media and policy agendas and provides high-quality public relations services together with a creative contribution towards new business activity including acquisition, development and pitching.
They will also be required to build effective working relationships with journalists, stakeholders, clients and other team members.
We’re on the lookout for someone who is excited about helping breakthrough products, services and companies to succeed.
The successful candidate will join a team with expertise in product PR, patient advocacy, corporate communications and media relations, and work across a number of exciting therapy areas including neuroscience, immunology and pain.
You’ll have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, from the world’s top healthcare companies to exciting new startups, ultimately helping patients and healthcare professionals across numerous disciplines.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide timely and relevant tactical advice to clients on developing and placing reactive and proactive news stories and comment to drive coverage in priority media outlets
- Plan concepts for and oversee delivery of press conferences and media events
- Display exceptional selling-in ability for pitching stories to print and broadcast journalists, as well as digital channels
- Provide reactive press office services, including drafting media statements for client approval and briefing media spokespeople
- Identify and advise clients on the most effective way to approach and engage with key target journalists and other stakeholder groups
- Conduct stakeholder mapping interviews, evaluate interviews and draft interview reports making tactical recommendations
- Deliver specifically assigned areas of new projects to agreed timescales, on budget and to a high quality
- Maintain regular client contact including attending and contributing to client meetings
- Contribute creatively towards new business pitches and lead on brainstorms with the wider team
- Identify prospective clients or new work streams from existing clients
- Contribute towards the recruitment process for interns, helping to identify and select high-quality candidates
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of the Hanover financial and marketing systems
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Proven track record of experience working in a healthcare communications role, ideally within a consultancy or in-house team
- Excellent knowledge of healthcare/pharmaceutical PR
- Team player with an industrious approach
- Ability to multi-task and manage competing deadlines
- Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills
- Strong networking skills
- Ability to manage and develop junior staff (demonstrable experience is desirable but not essential)
